Regardless of the application, the question inevitably arises as to how much gas is required for the job and how to optimize its use. For instance, higher dissolved oxygen is known to speed up kinetics in gold leaching, but what is the best level of oxygen to maximize gold recovery and reduce reagents consumption? Some processes will require oxygen for oxidation of sulfur or redox (Fe2+) compounds in acid or alkaline medium. Should this be done under pressure? High temperatures? And what type of gas disperser would work best given the particular amount of gas involved. Questions abound. The new BoostAL™ Gold offer from Air Liquide Canada was specifically developed to address such crucial issues when the time comes to choose between air and O2 for pre-oxidation or leaching. BoostAL™ provides the critical input required to make an accurate assessment of the economics of gold extraction for a particular project, enabling operators to reduce energy consumption and optimize their manufacturing processes. Key parameters, such as the dissolved oxygen profile and oxygen-uptake rate, can be precisely measured on site by Air Liquide specialists. The data obtained, combined with mineral analysis, is used to verify the likely impact on yields. Launched in 2012, the BoostAL™ mining offer has already sparked widespread interest in the Canadian industry, with six projects completed to date. Results of recent work undertaken at a Québec gold mine were presented at the COM 2013 conference in Montreal, October 27-31, 2013. We are blessed with a diversity of geology and settings for industrial minerals, coal and met- als. Nova Scotia’s infrastructure advantages significantly reduce the costs of exploration and development. These advantages include an extensive road system, electricity grid, railway system linked to deep-water ice-free ports, as well as eastern North America, inter- national air service, and mobile communica- tion network. Our Mineral Resources Branch provides the industry with accessible, free geoscience expertise, regulatory coordination, and a state-of-the-art map-based internet mineral rights registry called NovaROC. To assist our prospecting and junior ex- ploration industries, we’ve implemented a Mineral Incentive Program which supports both grass-roots exploration programs and advanced projects. We are committed to promoting explora- tion leading to mineral discoveries and new, producing mines. Importantly, Nova Scotia has a highly developed education and training system with advanced research and develop- ment capacities. In fact Nova Scotia boasts 10 universities and 13 community college cam- puses. There are several on-going development projects and a number of encouraging explo- ration projects for gold, rare-earth elements, base metals, and industrial minerals that we’re monitoring. These projects have potential to diversify and grow the mineral industry in Nova Scotia. The mining industry has been important to Nova Scotia’s history and continues to be a valued economic activity in our province, especially in rural areas. Please contact the Department of Natural Resources to find out more about our explo- ration and development opportunities. Welcome to Nova Scotia (learn more at http://www.gov.ns.ca/natr/meb).Next >
