MEET OUR EXPERTS DANIEL ALEKSOV Daniel Aleksov, P.Eng., BSS, is a principal and co-founder of Leading Edge Building Engineers and a senior structural engineer specialized in the restoration and renewal of exiting buildings. He has spent over a decade assisting building owners and property managers solve water penetration and building component failures with durable and cost- effective solutions. MARK SUMMERFIELD Mark Summerfield is the Head of Roof Consulting within the building science practice in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area at EXP. With over 30 years of experience across Canada, Mark has deep knowledge in various roofing systems and experience in several types of roof and building envelope assemblies. ANTHONY PERRI Anthony F. Perri, B.Arch.Sc., LEED® AP is a Project Manager with the Building Science practice in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area at EXP. With over 14 years of experience, Anthony is an all-rounder in assessing existing roof assemblies, preparing design documents and specifications for roof replacements, and conducting construction reviews. SATHYA RAMACHANRAN Sathya Ramachandran is the Director of Building Science practice for Greater Toronto and Hamilton area for EXP Services Inc. With the right mix of research background, technical expertise, and business acumen, Sathya successfully have established self-sustained divisions in Calgary and Edmonton, while partnering and delivering high quality solutions to clients. He is currently on a mission to steer the flagship in Brampton to build on the legacy and position EXP for further growth and expansion. BAS BASKARAN Dr. Baskaran is a Group Leader at the National Research Council of Canada. At the NRC, he is researching the wind effects on building envelopes through experiments and computer modeling. As adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa, he supervises graduate students. As a professional engineer, he is a member of Roofing Committee on Weather Issues (RICOWI), IIBEC, ASCE, SPRI, ICBEST, and CIB technical committees. He is a Research advisor to various Task Groups of the National Building Code of Canada and member of the wind load committee of American Society of Civil Engineers. ABHISHEK GAUR Dr. Abhishek Gaur is an Associate Research Officer in the Construction Research Centre of the National Research Council Canada (NRC). He is responsible for developing climate data, maps, and tools to support the design and research of building envelopes in Canada. He is also leading NRC’s efforts of mapping of wildfires in the wildland urban interface (WUI) areas of Canada and is one of the leads coordinating the task of generating future projected building simulation data for International Energy Agency Buildings and Communities (IEA-EBC) Programme on developing climate resilient cooling in buildings (Annex 80). FLONJA SHYTI Flonja Shyti, MASc., is a Research Council Officer with the Construction Research Centre of the National Research Council of Canada. As part of the roofing and insulation group, her research focuses on the performance requirements for climate resilience of commercial and residential roofs and their integration into codes. She is a member of SPRI and IIBEC and is registered with the Professional Engineers Ontario. She received her master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Ottawa. GOT SOMETHING TO SAY?
