Chair, IAAE Canada A s I prepare to wrap up my time as Chair of the Board, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve shared together. Serving this association has been one of the great honours of my career, and I want to sincerely thank each of you – our members, committee members, Board colleagues, partners, and staff – for your ongoing support and commitment to IAAE Canada. Of course, this isn’t goodbye. While I’ll be passing the torch to Trent Gervais, who knows the organization well from his time as Vice Chair, I’ll still be around, staying on as Treasurer. So, you’re not rid of me just yet! Over the past few years, we’ve faced significant changes and challenges together, including the impacts of the pandemic on our industry and our members. Through it all, we’ve strengthened partnerships, expanded professional development, and laid the groundwork for operational improvements that will serve IAAE Canada well into the future. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished as a community. As we shared at Facility Operations & Managers Conference (F.O.A.M.) 2025, strategic improvements are well underway to ensure IAAE Canada remains relevant, responsive, and resilient in a changing industry landscape. From new systems to enhanced member services and fresh content offerings, these changes are designed to elevate your experience with IAAE Canada. We’ve also realigned and expanded our staffing structure to better support members, with increased focus on member services, strategy, and external affairs. Many of you are already seeing some of these improvements in action, and there’s more to come in the months ahead. Looking forward, planning for F.O.A.M. 2026 in beautiful St. John’s, Newfoundland, is also well underway. As committed, we’ll be sharing a preview of the event’s programming and focus areas in the lead-up to the conference, and we’re excited about what’s taking shape. IAAE Canada’s strength has always come from its people. It has been a privilege to serve alongside a dedicated Board, engaged committees, and a team committed to continuous improvement. I’m confident the organization is in great hands as Trent leads the next chapter. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve. I look forward to seeing many of you in St. John’s next year. Serving this association has been one of the great honours of my career, and I want to sincerely thank each of you. www.facebook.com/iaae.canada Connect with IAAE Canada! www.linkedin.com/company/iaae-canada/about8 An official publication of the International Association of Airport Executives Canada UP FRONT THE TOP FIVE REASONS MEMBERS JOIN: 1. Our Executive Director is currently on leave, and I’ve stepped in to help support the day-to-day operations of the association alongside Julia. When I joined IAAE Canada this past April, it was to support the development of our next strategic plan. Part of that work involved learning more about the association from the inside out to help inform its future direction. By stepping into operations over the past few months, it’s allowed us to accelerate several improvements aimed at enhancing how we work and how we serve our members, even as we continue shaping the strategic plan. You may have already noticed a few of these changes: a new, centralized toll-free number to reach our whole team, a new mailing address, and the introduction of updated systems to streamline how we operate and interact with members. These improvements will impact everything from how we manage events and training to how we track correspondence and follow up with you, ensuring a seamless and consistent experience across all staff interactions. Julia has also transitioned into a new role as Member Services Coordinator, bringing new focus to how we support members and reflecting our continued commitment to service. These are just a few of the changes underway, with more happening behind the scenes and additional improvements planned for the months ahead. If you ever need anything, you’re always welcome to reach out to us individually or use our new toll-free number (1-800-878-IAAE) or email headquarters@iaaecanada.org to reach all staff. We’ve made it easier than ever to connect, and we’re here to help. A.A.E. and A.A.P. ... The Marks of the Airport Professional! The Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) and the Accredited Airport Professional (A.A.P.) designations are a distinction of an individual’s breadth, knowledge, and ability in the Canadian aviation industry. They are also recognized internationally as a global standard of excellence. The program is open to members of IAAE Canada, and there are two streams: 1) The Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) is for current airport personnel; and 2) The Accredited Airport Professional (A.A.P.) is available to aviation industry personnel.
