The trucking industry actively works with WTFC to highlight the importance of diversity, equity, inclu- sion, and accessibility across all areas of the professional truck driving sec- tor. As an organization that is active- ly engaged in government conversa- tions, both provincial and federal, we are always at the table expressing the importance of women in all roles across the sector. I am thrilled to say that the past few months have been very exciting. In May, another #KnowHumanTraf- ficking trailer launched, with the help of the Ontario Truck Driving School. We now have wrapped over 20 trail- ers for the #KnowHumanTrafficking campaign. We are proud to add that Walmart Canada has become the first fleet ambassador for the campaign. The company has wrapped four trail- ers and is educating their employees on human trafficking, the signs to watch for, and what to do if they sus- pect trafficking. he Women’s Truck- ing Federation of Canada (WTFC) is very happy to be included in the Women Driving Change magazine; the importance of this publication can be felt throughout the industry! As an organization that is continually try- ing to improve the representation of females in the transportation sector, it is welcoming to see this magazine showcase the importance women play. I believe this publication is crucial to expanding the number of women who work as drivers, mechanics, and behind the scenes. WTFC is a network of women and men who are driven to empower- ing, assisting, and mentoring women throughout the trucking industry. The first class of the Bridging the Gaps in Truck- ing Program started August 7, 2023. The eagerness and excitement from the par- ticipants for this opportunity is amazing and we are very appreciative to the many companies that are actively supporting this program. On top of all of this, we’ve also moved into our new office in Kitchener! If you’re in the area, stop by and say hi! By the time you read this issue, the 6th Annual Bridging the Barriers confer- ence will be just around the corner. You might even be reading this magazine at the event! As an organization, we are also active- ly working to ensure the safety of profes- sional truck drivers. From safe parking areas to accessible washrooms, WTFC is actively working with government to bring about change to these aspects of the industry. We promote the impor- tance of the occupation throughout Can- ada; therefore, we need to step up and promote the safety related to the occupa- tion as well. WTFC wishes to thank all of the advertisers that have taken part in this publication. The support that is being shown to the promotion of welcoming women into our industry is phenom- enal.
